Educational Perspective from Both a Global and Personal Perspective Essay
Middle childhood, though often overlooked, is a pivotal time of development. In terms of school we begin this stage at the cusp of elementary school, and as it ends, we are moving into middle school. There is information in this week’s reading about education from both a global perspective and from a more subject-focused view.
After reading through what our text has to say about education in middle childhood and remembering what the previous chapter had to say about early childhood education, reflect back on your own educational history. What worked? What didn’t? What were some of your most positive learning experiences? Most negative? What do you think are some of the most important elements when designing a successful classroom (again, draw on your own experiences here).
Last, we can talk about the extra challenges that kids this age are facing in the time of Covid-19. How would you have fared if you had been going to school remotely during middle childhood? Certainly a lot for us to talk about here.
