CODE OF ETHICS REFLECTION

CODE OF ETHICS REFLECTION

CODE OF ETHICS REFLECTION

Students will complete this assignment independently. It is each students’ responsibility

to begin the planning process early to ensure success.

Self-reflection is an important part of Child and Youth Care practice. The ability to

engage honestly in the self-reflective process often determines our efficiency-level when working in professional settings, the quality of the interactions we have with our

colleagues, the degree of meaningful connections we maintain with young people and their families and our willingness to exercise self-care when necessary. The act of

integrating self-reflection as part of our best practice is not an easy process and therefore steps must be taken to enhance this skillset.

The purpose of this assignment will allow you to critically reflect on your own best practice, while integrating knowledge about the Code of Ethics/Standards of Practice

outlined by Ontario Association for Child and Youth Care’s (OACYC). Your ability to thoroughly understand the ethical guidelines and apply them into your work is critical to

the well-being of the individuals you are called to serve and to your overall success as a professional in the field of child and youth care.
